Inspired by our East Coast & Jersey roots, nestled between charming shore towns, farmland that stretches for miles, infinite pine barrens, peaceful backroads, and the Mullica River. It's the kind of place that shapes you, that teaches you a special kind of freedom: mud on your boots, sun on your skin, boating along the river, fishing off the bay and ocean, and taking a quick ride to your favorite shore towns where time moves just a little bit slower.

Our signature coastal cowgirl aesthetic is a reflection of everything we love most - the places that inspire us, ground us, and shape the memories we carry. Our experience encases just that and so much more. Think timeless shells, handcrafted details, natural textures, and a deep appreciation for effortless, natural beauty.

We're here for the dreamers and the doers - the ones manifesting, the go-getters, the adventures, the country girls and beach lovers, the boaters, the artists, and the cowgirls. I'm Natalee - owner, stylist, and the heart behind Penny & Sage Salon.

I opened Penny & Sage in early August of 2022, at just 21 years old with all of my savings, a small vision, and a goal I refused to let fail. At first that goal was small..., to create a healthy space to do my best work closer to home in a suite. What started as a leap of faith and that small goal quickly grew into something bigger than I ever imagined -a mix of manifestation, hard work, and the kind of community that shows up when you lead with heart. I am amazed, in awe, and utter gratitude to be able to say that the salon has grown/expanded 4 times in the 4 years its been open thanks to all of you who believe in my goal & brand.

My love for hair started early. The salon was always my favorite place to be, and some of my sweetest core memories are playing with my plastic salon setup with my sister... or turning my grammy into my real-life mannequin for all things beauty. Even then, I knew I loved creating - and I loved making people feel beautiful. I've always been the kind of person who needs to be moving, doing, creating.Â

When I wasn't doing hair I was crafting, drawing, painting, or outside. Swimming, fishing with my dad, stomping through mud puddles in my favorite pair of red rain boots I lived in, spending every second I could at the beach - soaking up everything New Jersey had to offer. The water, the woods, the nature here... it's the few rare places you can go to on even your worst days and leave feeling a little bit more at peace.

This is what makes Penny & Sage so different, so deeply personal - it's a reflection of everything I know and love. Its a feeling, an experience, a lifestyle...all built on originality and my story.Â

"Penny" is named after the woman who believed in me first: my grammy. She passed before she could see it all come to life, but everything I've built carries her spirit - supportive, bold, and full of heart. "Sage" is our nod to nature, holistic vibes, and the energy you feel the second you walk through our doors. Here, hair is just the beginning.
​
From the start I wanted to create something different than a typical salon. Yes, were here to give you beautiful hair and we take our craft very seriously to be able to provide you the best - but we're also here to give you an experience that feels different. A safe haven, a place where you can exhale, feel inspired, and feel like you belong. Penny & Sage is a unique creation where you go for great hair, a creative outlet, and a community. A space built from my childhood, nostalgia, my roots, and the places that shaped my favorite memories and made my worries disapear...where time moved just a little slower. A place where stylists and clients alike feel safe to create.

I grew up learning you can be independent, a little wild, deeply connected to nature, manifest anything you want, accomplish anything you really put your mind to, and still be a total girly girl with great hair while doing it. That balance is what Penny & Sage is- and thats what I am so proud to share with all of you.
